No shoe is magic, and they don't do the steps for you,  but a well fitted dance shoe will support your instep and arches, stay on your feet, keep your weight in the right place and improve posture (something that we all need!)

Over the years dance shoe makers have really done their homework, improving fittings, heel shape and most importantly non slip suede soles. These are so important to help you turn and move without damaging knees and twisting ankles.  

Many dance shoes these days come in variety of width fittings, again important as when we dance, especially Latin, our weight is held mainly over the balls of the feet.  A correctly fitted shoe makes you feel balanced and of course, more elegant.

Heels at the moment for Ladies tend to be flared - that's the fashion - 2", 2.5", and 3".  So find a heel that is comfortable for you, and also compliments your partner.  Many shoe ranges also come in lower heels, for the wider foot, with width fittings from D to EE.

• Firstly, Dance Shop Assistants really know your needs.  Many of us have trained all of our lives as dancers and teachers, so you will always get a professional fitting. Dance shoe sizes can vary (even from brand to brand). You may be a perfect size 5 in a normal street shoe but a 6 in a dance shoe….
• Sometimes Internet prices may look attractive but without being able try on before you buy, is it worth risking damaging your feet, the expense, blisters and disappointment? Not to mention the hassle of having to post shoes back....
